Diplomatic Visa

  • Issued to a person holding a diplomatic passport issued from any country and recommended from the concerned diplomatic mission for the diplomatic visa
  • Issued to a person considered eligible to grant diplomatic privileges by Government of Nepal (GoN) and the family members of such person holding the diplomatic passport

2.

Official Visa

  • Issued to a person  who is on an official visit to Nepal  and the family members (spouse and children) of the person
  • Department of Consular Services

3.

Tourist Visa

  • Issued to foreigners travelling to Nepal as an entry visa (On-Arrival Visa) at the port of entry
  • Issued as an entry visa by Diplomatic Missions abroad
  • Tourist visa is extended not exceeding total  150 days of stay in a single visa year (Jan-Dec)

 

  • 15/30/90- Days entry visa is issued by Immigration Offices
  • Tourist Visa extension is done for minimum 15 days from Immigration Offices and Department of Immigration
  • 15/30/90-Days entry visa is issued by Diplomatic Missions

Non-Tourist Visa

 

  1. Working Visa

Issued to foreign nationals only upon the recommendation from line agency (concerned Ministry of GoN), Labour Permit from the Department of Labour and Work Agreement from the Ministry of Home Affairs

  • 30 USD/Month- Foreigners working in offices or project directly affiliated with GoN and their dependents
  • 50 USD/ Month- Foreigners and their dependants working in organizations having contract between donor country and the Nepal Government and funded by the donor country
  • 75 USD/Month- Foreigners and their dependents working in any organizations
  • Additional 20 USD for single re-entry facility
  • Additional 60 USD for multiple re-entry facility

  • Issued to foreigners having direct relation with Nepalese
  • Issued to relatives of foreigners having marital relation with Nepali citizen

  • 25 USD per month for relatives of foreigners having marital relation with Nepali citizen
  • Additional 20 USD for single re-entry facility

  1. Marriage Visa

Issued to foreigners married to Nepali citizen

  • No Visa fee till marriage relation for foreigners who took visa free of cost according to Foreign Relation Regulation, 2032
  • Additional 20 USD for single re-entry facility
  • Additional 60 USD for multiple re-entry facility

5.

Study Visa

Issued to students pursuing academic / non academic degree and research in Nepal

Department of Immigration

  • 30 USD/Month for students of students and their dependents (Degree Program)
  • 75 USD/Month for students and dependents (Non Degree Program)
  • 15 USD/Month for Bhutanese students and their dependents
  • 15 USD/Month for dependents of the students receiving waiver on visa fee as per MoU between Universities
  • 50 USD/Month for foreigners and their dependents for teaching and research purpose
  • 25 USD/Annual for Maldivian and their dependents
  • 15 USD/Annual for Bangladeshi and their dependents
  • Free of Cost for Srilankan and Pakistani Student but 10 USD/Month for their family
  • Additional 20 USD for single re-entry facility
  • Additional 60 USD for multiple re-entry facility

  2. University / College Admission receipt (original)
  3. Bank Statement (latest one week) with sufficient funds

6.

Business Visa

Issued to investors and businessmen/women investing and undertaking business in Nepal

  • 20 USD/Month, 200 USD/Year, 500 USD for 5 Years - Foreigner and their dependants  having an investment more than NRs 100 million
  • 35 USD/Month, 400 USD/Year, 1000 USD for five years  – Foreigner and their dependents having an investment equal to or less than NRs 100 million
  • Free of Cost for NRS 1000 Million Investment
  1. Recommendation letter from Department of Industry or concerned line agency of Government
  2. Bio Data (for first time applicants)
  3. Foreign Investment Acceptance letter from the Department of Industry

7.

Non-Residential Nepali Visa

Issued to the NRN card holders

8.

Residential Visa

Issued to the following foreigners and their family intending to spend life in Nepal:

  • Persons with an international reputation
  • Persons capable of rendering an outstanding contribution to the economic, social and cultural growth of Nepal
  • Person who has invested minimum one hundred US dollars in industrial enterprise of Nepal
  • Person intending to spend life in Nepal without carrying on any business

Department of Immigration

  • 500 USD per year for new visa and 200 USD per year for renewal
  • 700 USD per year for new visa and 1200 USD per year for renewal – Foreigners who wants to live in Nepal without doing any business

For Foreigners who invest minimum of 100 thousands USD

  1. Copy of Company registration certificate
  2. Copy of PAN/VAT certificate
  3. Copy of the share certificate
  4. Copy of Industry registration certificate
  5. Recommendation from Dept. of Industry or Commerce
  6. Copy of Passport and recent Nepali visa

Foreigners who wants to live in Nepal without doing any business

  1. Bank statement of USD 20,000
  2. Certificate having regular income of at least USD 20,000 per year
  3. Character Certificate
  4. No Objection letter from concerned country of Embassy
  5. Health certificate issued by TU Teaching Hospital
  6. The evidence of completing 60 years or proof of retirement
  7. Copy of valid passport and recent Nepali visa
  8. Expenditure statement of USD 20,000 for renewal
  9. Valid Passport, if required

Transit Visa

Foreign nationals having a transit in Nepal can obtain Transit Visa to spend maximum 24 hours

Note:-  Gratis Visa (Visa for Free) is issued free of cost for following categories of Visa applicants:

  • Children below 10 years except US citizens
  • Up to 30 days for SAARC Citizen (except Afghanistan) visiting Nepal for the first time in a given visa year. Afghan citizens are eligible for Gratis Visa on Arrival only upon the recommendation of Department of Immigration.
  • Non Residential Nepalese (NRN) card holder
  • Chinese Nationals are eligible for 150 days tourist Gratis Visa in a given visa year
